American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare

Couple a days ago American Horror Story started airing its 6th season with theme apparently to be Roanoke. This very successful anthology TV series got connected to one of the previous season pretty quickly. Which is not a surprise because its creator Ryan Murphy said long ago that despite each season having different theme, they are all connected in some way. Also previous seasons also connected to each other.

Internet already figured it out that this season in connected to season 1 (Murder House). First there is Roanoke reference: Billy Dean Howard, played by Sarah Paulson, told the story of Roanoke legend, how entire colony vanished and about word Croatoan. The second is a man with pig head which appeared in TV footage. One of Ben Hamond’s troubled patient reveals he’s afraid of Piggy Man legend (he visits if person says “here, piggy piggy man” three times while looking in the mirror in bathroom).

It’s also fair to say My Roanoke Nightmare will probably connect to some other seasons of American Horror Story as well.

I’m really excited for next episodes of the show. It’s so good thing that lot of characters are played by actors and actress who acted in previous season (and other shows by same creator) – Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, Angie Bassett, Cuba Gooding Jr. Kathy Bates. Also there was little humor in it (for example remarks about yoga – “it’s called “stretching” and you do it before, not as exercise”). The biggest question I was having after finishing the episode was why are characters in present time younger than those seen in flashbacks? For example, Rabe and Paulson play the same character but Rabe portrays character in present days and she’s 7 younger than Paulson.
