Agents of SHIELD, The Framework

Agents of HYDRA

For me, Agents of SHIELD is by far the most interesting TV show based on comic books right now! Last night it continued airing its 4th season, but with a new story arc, called The Framework. The Framework is an alternate reality where a pain is taken away from people that are connected to this computer simulation. It was so fun to watch!

So this effectively means Hydra has taken over the world. In this world May didn’t kill a girl in Bahrain, the latter actually paving the way for Hydra, Coulson is a teacher warning students against Inhumans and defending Hydra’s good name (“They are not Nazis, this is just propaganda.”), Fitz is the Doctor in charge of examining the Inhumans – he reminded me of Daniel Whitehall, especially after seeing his techniques of examination. And because he was named just the Doctor, it also reminded of Doctor Who, which I like too (this show returns for its 10th season on April 15). “Evil” Fitz is like second in command. Also, Grant Ward is back, being again a double agent and for now resistance being preferred one. Jemma and Skye, not Daisy, are the only one who aren’t brainwashed since they entered The Framework their own way to save their friends. Later it is revealed that the first in command is Madame Hydra a.k.a. Aida who also happens to control The Framework. She and Fitz kiss, probably for her to have him more under control but refuses to show him who was the cause for the subversion (Jemma). That and also the last scene, where Skye is in the back seat talking with Coulson, suggest that close bonds between characters from a real world are The Framework’s weakness.

The episode is dedicated to Bill Paxton, who recently passed away and played a big part in the 1st season of the show. I am a fan of him, watching him acting in Aliens, Weird Science, One False Move, Simple Plan (I did the marathon after he left the Agents of SHIELD). But I’m wondering if the show’s creators were planning his return in The Framework. Possibly not because at time Paxton was making a Training Day TV show which premiered February 2nd this year.
