“Dark Matter” by Blake Crouch

If I were to summarize the book Dark Matter by Blake Crouch in one (long) sentence, this would be it: Main character Jason Dessen gets abducted from his universe by his doppelgänger from parallel universe (Jason #2), gets released in doppelgänger universe and after realizing what has really happened to him, tries to find his way back to his universe and his family.

To me the premise and theme of the book are really compelling. When the book is about to end, the plot thickens in a way that made me appreciate the author even more. To explain: According to book’s logic, when individual comes to a situation when s/he need to decide, multiple parallel universes are created in which every individual’s versions have decided differently in a given situation. So when Jason has decided to find his universe and family, almost every new version of Jason from that point want to find them too. So we end up with a universe full of Jason who are beating themselves to death and every one of them thinks he’s the real one.
